The best part of this rant/temper tantrum/whine, is that Bobby feels confidant he nailed the promotion...That being said..
I received three calls from schools yesterday.Three. One from my sons elementary school, it was the principal asking me who my kids bully was,(a different rant for a different day, still sorting out my "nice " words for that one.)A call from my other kids preschool and a call from the school I am volunteering at.
The call about the bully was productive. Apparently I am that much closer to getting someone higher up to identify this kid as a bully, The mom will HAVE to take notice now.It turns out a different mom called and complained about her kid getting bullied on the bus so the principal wanted to know if mine and hers were the same.It turns out they weren't but they ride the same bus and are friends. Good enough for me.
The Preschool called and told me Delilah had a meltdown about doing her numbers. That prompted the teachers to look up when her birthday was. Apparently they just realized that she is JUST 4. And that would be the reason she had a meltdown she is too young. They made a point to tell me that if her birthday was in July 31st (the cut off date) that they would have just pushed her through it. But no, she is too young, and AND they told me that hardly ANY kids are ever tested in and pass. She didn't know WHY my principal told me that. Today I call the board of education.
The school I volunteer at, the school of hard knocks and wayward kids, called me also. They want to offer me a full time job as a substitute or a teacher aide. A FULL TIME JOB!!! Oh wait...
1.If bobby gets this promotion we will be moving
2.He won't know if he gets this promotion for a couple of weeks.
3.Have been trying desperately to find childcare at 7a.m. and am only successful for three days.
4.Didn't ask what the pay was because I forgot in my excitement. She wanted me to start yesterday, and I know she asked me out of desperation and not anything more than I didn't run screaming from the building when there was a small riot there on Monday. Yeah, I said a riot. Hope it pays well, you know, hazard pay.
5 Have to switch my volunteer day around Because I have to switch my daughters school day around which means I have to switch my work day around.
6.I am excited by this prospect because it pays more than minimum, and uses my degree and its with kids I want to work with. I am saddened because my kids are still young enough to need me, I hate that I would need like 4 sitters to make it possible and that most of my paycheck would go to childcare.
7 The best part is, if Bobby gets this job I am going to quit working at the y during the week, so I can keep this house spotless for showings. You know, because the market is so HOT right now...

Quotes
I love quotes. From different people about different things, I love them. Some are inspiring, some are just to make me laugh, some make me think. I ran across these quotes from Gloria Steinam and just wanted to put them down somewhere. I really like her. She speaks thoughts and ideas for which I firmly believe. Some of them feel as if she popped right into my head and put a voice to them.
"The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off"
"Woman are not going to be equal outside the home until men are equal inside of it."
" The surest way to be alone is to get married"
"A liberated woman is one who has sex before the marriage and a job after it."
"Men should think twice about making widowhood woman's only path to power."
"The definition of woman's work is shitwork"
"The first problem of all us men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn"
"A pedestal is as much a prison as any small confined space."
"Most American children suffer too much mother and too little father."
"I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine a marriage and a career."
"A woman reading playboy feels a little like a Jew reading a Nazi manual.:
"Someone asked me why women don't gamble as much as men do, and I gave the commonsensical reply that we don't have as much money. That was a true and incomplete answer. In fact, a woman's total instinct for gambling is satisfied by marriage."
Some others not by her that I like are:
"My idea of feminism is self determination, and its very open-ended;every woman has the right to become herself and do whatever she needs to do"-Ani Difranco
"When an actress takes off her clothes onscreen but a nursing mother is told to leave, what message do we send about the roles of woman? In some ways we're as committed to the old Madonna -whore dichotomy as ever. And the Madonna stays home feeding the baby behind blinds, a vestige of those days when for a lady to venture out was a flagrant act of public exposure."- Anna Quindlen
" I only know that people call me a feminist when I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute" Rebecca West
"It is completely unimportant. That is why it is so interesting!"- Agatha Christie
And my favorite for today...
" I have built my organization upon fear."-Al Capone.
Want some more?
" I have always been impressed by the fact that there are a suprising number of individuals who never use their minds if they can avoid it, and an equal number who do use their minds, but in a equally stupid way."- Carl Jung
Enjoy!

The race is on...
On this fine Fall morning I was laying in bed thinking,"Wow,I can drop off the kids and come back and take a nice leisurely shower" Hmmm. That is where the saying "Be careful what you wish for" came from. Since then someone wet the bed, the dog barked to be let out than proceeded to play in the neighbors sprinklers, the laundry and dishes need to be put away and the kennel needs to be cleaned (as she tore up a pillow in there last night). After I drop them at preschool I need to hustle over to Walmart, back to the post office and then over to Costco to pic up pictures. Somewhere in there I need to make their lunches, grab myself something to eat, and then go pick them up from preschool and head to the Y to work. I need to figure out whats for dinner, get the ingredients, get those from the store and bring them home. After I work I have to wait until 4:30 to pick up Tanner from an after school art class that I signed him up for. He is NOT looking forward to this. So, when he gets in the truck he is going to be ALL smiles..awesome. Once we are all home I have to wrestle the homework /math facts/ reading/spelling with the oldest, and keep the other two from bugging the neighbors to much. The dog will need to be played with after being in her kennel much of the day. At some point the husband will come home and want to be fed yet no bothered by the rest of it. *deep breath* . Lesson learned. I will never EVER lay in bed in the morning again and think "I can be LEISURELY".

The middle one.
Bubbers. This is the nickname we gave him when he was born. He was chubber bubbers. He was a HEALTHY baby. 8lbs 14 oz. Healthy. He is also the biggest cuddler, and the most loving, gentle boy. He is a little shy which is at odds with how much of a brute he looks like. He is Delilahs best friend (and sometimes worst enemy). Today is his birthday. So far this morning he has climbed in my bed and snuggled. Then he wanted to wait until the sun was up to open his presents. I told him it was raining and if we waited till the sun came up it could be tomorrow. He smiled and said "Okay, later then" and went to sleep. Lol. He wanted a monster truck, he got it, it's even radio controlled. Drives the dog nuts so far. He got several vehicles that you can take apart and put back together which he loves. A new pair of Rollerblades (and pads and helmet). He has been wearing a pair that is 4 sizes too big. Crazy thing is, is he is actually pretty good at them. So he will probably tear up the road in ones that fit. Now if it would only stop raining. He(and his sister) have tried everything at least once.
But my FAVORITE part of the day, is when we go to preschool for an hour and get to see the room! Happy birthday to ME! Hahahaha. They are pretty excited and then a trip to the aquarium might be in order. Because that's how we roll on birthdays here in the Soltys household.

One week and a day.
This is how long before preschool starts, one week and one day. I think I would pay a whole months tuition if they could just go back when the public schools starts. But I repeat myself. This is the last week I have to deal with whining bored kids all day. This is the last week where I have no work. This is the last week there is no exercise. This week is full of parent orientations and school meetings. Thursday marks the last kids birthday of the year and the last day I will have 2 four year olds. We are all sick of each others company so I have decided to make this a great week. We are going to the museum tomorrow with a friend. Probably more for me than them but I don't care. I would even be willing to take them to the pool, but it is closed during the week. I can feel this is going to be a Fall of changes, all of them good I hope. Next week is the first PTO meeting and the first day of school for frick-n-frack. It is the first full week of work for me and the following week I finally get to start my volunteering at the academy. I just hope that turns out as I hope. This is the last week of chaos. Onward to routine!

Feeling my inner Harpy
Do you ever sound like a broken record in your house? Does it wear on you like it does on me? Between the kids and the husband I think I have the same 6 arguments every other day. Is this part of marriage and motherhood? Know what would be nice? Is if someone followed through on their "I'm sorrys" and changed the behavior that is wrong. I am tired of feeling like a fishwife. I am tired of feeling like the worlds worst most nagging mother.

Dear summer, blah blah blah
Second grade started and I couldn't be happier. In fact the bus stop is in front of my house and there are about 11 kids who get on there. When the bus came the first day there were all the kids and about 4 of us moms standing there. The bus pulled up, stopped, the children loaded.. and the mothers cheered! It was very funny. My neighbor 4 doors down was standing there with her mother and grandmother watching the children load and they were laughing at how happy the moms were when the bus came. Clearly, school board, this is an indicator that the summer is too long.
Since school started last Thursday, my other two have come down with strep. I took Tuck to the Dr. on Thursday, they told me it was a virus.I took him again on Monday because clearly it wasn't. He tested positive for strep then 2 days later Delilah came down with it too. TWO sick kids for a week and more.
I started my new position at the YMCA in Kinder-care but haven't been there most of the time because my kids are sick. I planned all summer even called in some teacher friends of mine for their opinions and advice so I have all these great plans. Now on top of that they have shut down at the Y and therefore no childcare for frick-n-frack. I tried to keep them busy in the other room and then in the room with us, but they are just too much of a distraction.Clearly I am not working for the next week until labor day. Which just sucks. I guess I am just really disappointed that I went to all this work and preparation and then ...nothing. Now I have to organize and write out all my plans for the other helpers so they know exactly what the ideas are.
Of course, this might all work out for the Y because I heard through someone, who heard through someone who said it to her, that me having the kids there while I taught may not be able to happen. Awesome. This place is so disorganized anyway, I am surprised that they even noticed my kids.
I think that if frick-n-fracks preschool offered to start when the public schools did I would be willing to pay a whole months tuition to make that happen.I am that desperate for time and space for me.
