There has been a revolution.

The natives are getting restless. That's a good indicator it is almost summer vacation. Frick and Frack have refused to go to Kiddie Kamp today for that one last day of 2 and half hour freedom I will have all summer. But then I think, Wait! Summer camp is right around the corner! Days and Days of THEM being away from HERE! Being entertained for hours with crafts and activities. I cannot wait. I have Tanner signed up for anything I could find that he might get a glimmer of interest out of. He is becoming more like me, content to do what he likes and not much else. I have him signed up for a science camp, golf lessons, track and field camp, tennis lessons, and of course sleep away camp. And on top of all that the pool! I love a public pool, I love the people watching and the fact that we all live in such a small town there is always a friend to be found there to swim with! I changed my work schedule so that I would have all day to do these things, plus the zoo or the aquarium or the museum on a rainy day. Friends over here friends over there...They are going to be more busy this summer than they are during the school year. Tanner is not excited by the fact I told him that there would be some enrichment work during the summer. Math facts really stumps him and his frustration is palatable. Very sad, and reminiscent of my own childhood. Soooo the downside to this summer madness is at least 3 mornings a week I will be tutoring him in math.Is that irony or what?

Thoughts, thoughts....

I really haven't written anything lately. Every time I think of something to write about, I don't get to the computer in time and the thought vanishes. I have a bunch of thoughts in my head so here we go~
On my half marathon I didn't run, I am sad. But I am also very happy for my friend who went outside her happy place and ran it, by herself and she did it well. She did it in such a good time for her first. I am really proud of her. I am sad because I could not run it. I was too scared to re-injure the stress fracture that seems to be almost gone. My knees are another issue. The physical therapist thinks that she needs to see me for 12 weeks, twice a week if not more. That is going to turn out to be a lot of money. For my knees. I feel incredibly selfish getting my knees better, when they work okay now. I just cannot run. Much. I should just give up running and stop the therapy now. But then I am think that running keeps me sane. Or sane-er. So I will figure it out.

I figured it out. I dropped my classes for the Summer and Fall. I know that if I wanted to spend $2000+ for tuition and books and more than $1000 for therapy I would probably give Bobby a cardiac. So I am putting off classes. I told my advisor that I would re-apply to the program next Winter, But who knows what will happen between now and then. I guess this was my pipe dream. Oh well. Nothing ventured nothing gained, right?

I made the decision to push Delilah into the same grade as Tucker. I feel sort of like a hypocrite as that was the one thing I thought I wouldn't do when it came to the two of them. But after seeing how they interacted this school year, I have figured it out that she carries him. He is so shy and she is ...not.She is so headstrong and sure of herself where he is more hesitant. So I decided that she will be tested in next Spring so she can go with him into Kindergarten. I think this will work out for the best and then he can have her around to help his confidence. You wouldn't think it to look at him but he is the quiet one in certain situations.

My visit to Washington D.C. was phenomenal. Never have I been somewhere so awesome. Bobby likes the beach, but I like places like D.C. I like to be able to walk in and out of museums (they are free there! ) and on top of all of that we stayed with a friend of Michelle's who is a curator for one Smithsonian (the art one). He gave us this really great tour and all this really interesting background on a lot of the pieces. Then I have a friend from High School who got me a tour of the Capitol building. But it wasn't a regular tour, I had one of the aides he works with giving a tour to new interns so I got the 3 hour tour with a ton of fun facts and background info. It rocked. I felt like my head was going to pop from all the history and political terms (I am not very politic savvy) but it was awesome. I am a little disappointed there was so little dedicated to the women of history and all their contributions. I mean really, lets not kid ourselves, if it weren't for the women the men would have never even made it over here. Let alone got their shit together long enough to make a government. I realized from all of this that I really need to get some better history and political background knowledge. Of course I don't want to run for office of anything but it would have been nice to not get so confused as the difference between "House of Representatives" and "Senate". Just saying.

I really want to know where the Spring is. It is the end of May and we have had a handful of nice days. I am ready for the kids and dog to be outside all day! Out of the house! Out! Out, I say! I am tired of tripping over them all..

Yesterday was the last day of 3 year old preschool for Frick -n-frack. I am a little sad that I am all out of babies to see go through this, but they are destined for bigger things....4 day preschool! Ha ha, they love it at that preschool and I am amazed at the things they learn and tell me about when they come home. It excites me to see all the changes in them throughout the year. What big kids they are becoming!
Okay I am done, for now. I think. The synapses' don't always jump in order, but,at least they are still firing.

Mama a-go-go

I got a getaway. An honest to God, no kids, no husband, no responsibility
(except to do what I want),getaway. Ahhhh.. The only sound I heard was my muscles unwinding and my breath escaping. Not in frustration or in a "God give me strength" sigh, but just breathing. I laughed, I reminisced, I went sightseeing to the places I wanted, stayed as long as I wanted, and didn't ONCE have to tell someone to stop running or no touching.Ahhhh..When can I go again?
The downside is coming home to do damage control. I came home to laundry done but not turned out and not put away. Someone stood in the half bathroom, wet their hands and then shook them, leaving splatters of black dots on all four walls and even out the door and on the basement wall. The house was dirty, as no one can dust. The bedrooms were destroyed. Tanners homework almost got turned in wrong. There was no food for the kids lunches. I literally have to run damage control the first day and night back, today was a make up day, tomorrow I should have us all on schedule. Maybe.I love my family. And every time I leave Mr.Mom gets better and better at it. But man.. it definitely makes you think twice before planning a mom getaway.
But I would do it again given the chance. So bring it on family! I have got it covered!

MNO

Last night I had to go shopping.
Had.To.Go.Shopping.
There was "nothing to eat". And that was a direct quote. From everyone. Now, the problem is, there is just no time when I have no kids around and taking all 3 turns into such a nightmare. By the end of the shopping trip, everyone is crying and screaming and whining and Mommy needs rehab for the drinking problem that was produced by this behavoir.
So last night I put all the kids to bed, made a list of what was needed(everything) and went to Walmart.
I love Walmart.
I don't care that the union people hate it and picket it. If they are not happy working there, they can go somewhere else. But I love it.
I love to walk around and people watch.
I love www.peopleofwalmart.com.
I love how no matter what item I need, they have it.
I was there for an hour and a half. I went up and down all the aisles that I wanted and no children were whining about legs hurting or what they wanted off the shelf...it was glorious. I probably bought some things that I would not have normally bought but at least it was not a bunch of crap the kids wheedled from me. This was crap I wheedled from myself. Bought a new book that is not available on my Kindle. Bought a couple mothers day shirts for the duo. Bought a pair of pajamas for frick because they were on clearance. Clearance. At Walmart. It was like they were free. And of course the groceries. I passed 3 teenagers and heard one of them remark that he wanted to come to my house because I had food. I had food on top of food on top of food. It was falling off the cart.(I told you I was out of everything.) That is my sign that it is time to go.
I passed a man with an ankle bracelet on. The kind Uncle Sam buys you.
I passed a man so large he didn't even fit in the motorized scooter.
I passed a mother with 3 kids, 2 of them under 2(This was after 10p.m. that I went.) I passed young teens with no sign of parents with them. When I was young the mall was the place to go, but apparently Walmart on a school night is cooler.
I brought it all home. Put it all away. Fixed some soup in the crock pot so it was ready for Bobby in the a.m. Busy night. The first person who tells me that there is "nothing to eat" for at least 2 days will be sleeping in the garage. I felt so good when I left there. I think I will go back tonight.

A day away

Sunday was such a nice day for the duo and I, we went to the Brookfield Zoo. I love this zoo because of how huge it is. Yet, you don't have to walk forever to see the next animal. As we walked in I thought to myself how nice it was, a child holding each hand and no diaper bag and no stroller and no cooler. Just us and the camera. I let them pick the exhibits they wanted to see. So we didn't go in order and yes, they got tired since all the animals they wanted to see were not next to each other, but they loved choosing their adventure. The other thing that is so great about this zoo is they have about 50 little playset parks for the kids. It made for a great break from walking for all of us. I would choose a bench and watch them just run and slide and climb. The only issue is that some of the parents let their teens on the playset too. And it's not that I am against them playing but its like watching a car accident about to happen. They are (obviously) bigger and faster and naturally more chaotic. I watched them crash into all these little kids because they were being too rowdy and not paying attention. But they must get that from their parents because no one called out to them to settle down or to watch out.I hope that my kids never are caught acting like this. What a disappointment. I guess everyone has their priorities in parenting.
While we were gone Tanner had a friend over and we were all back in time to eat dinner together. Well the older boys were all wound up and laughing at everything. The friend then proceeded to tell the table he knew what the "A" word was. And he did. Then he was laughing at himself so hard he couldn't settle down. I finally got him to listen to me and told him to knock it off it wasn't appropriate. He wouldn't listen so I asked him,"What would your mom say?" He said "She will kill me!" and then he stopped. I know she would be mortified if she knew he was doing that so I won't say anything. But Tanner and I sat down and had a quick talk about how he acts at a friends house. Then I proceeded to tell him, in detail, what would happen if I heard he was talking like his friend was. He paled a little and said he would never. Good to know all that time in Jersey is paying off in the threats department of motherhood.
